Connect TaxGPT in Claude:
On Team and Enterprise plans, an Owner may need to add TaxGPT for the organization first.
In Claude, open the connector directory, find TaxGPT, and click Connect.
Log in to your TaxGPT account, or create one.
When TaxGPT asks Allow access to your TaxGPT account?, click Allow.
Connect TaxGPT in ChatGPT:
In a managed workspace, an admin may need to enable TaxGPT first.
Go to Settings, then click Plugins.
Find TaxGPT, click Install plugin, then Connect if asked.
Log in to your TaxGPT account, or create one, then click Allow.
You can ask a few questions before you connect your account.
Once connected, ask a tax question in plain language, and name the state or country when it matters. For example:
How did the 2025 federal tax law change the SALT deduction cap for individuals?
Is software as a service taxable in Texas? Cite the Tax Code and the Comptroller's rule.
How does California source receipts from services for corporate apportionment?
TaxGPT covers US federal and state tax law (including DC and US territories) and Canada (federal). And we are constantly expanding. Ask the assistant what TaxGPT can search if you are not sure.
Usage: each search that TaxGPT runs counts as one question on your TaxGPT account. One question to the assistant can lead to several searches. A search that fails on our side does not count. See the plans.
To disconnect TaxGPT:
Claude: open your connector settings, click TaxGPT, then click Disconnect.
ChatGPT: go to Settings > Plugins, click TaxGPT, open the ••• menu, then click Disconnect.
Troubleshooting:
Problem | What to do |
Sign-in fails, or TaxGPT stopped working after it worked before. | Disconnect TaxGPT, then connect again. |
The answer says that you have used your included questions. | Check your plan at app.taxgpt.com/billing, or ask your firm's TaxGPT admin. |
A search takes a long time or stops. | Ask about fewer states at a time, then ask again. |
The answer does not use TaxGPT. | Ask again and say "use TaxGPT". |
Privacy: TaxGPT receives the search requests that the assistant sends, not your whole conversation. Do not put Social Security numbers or other personal identifiers in your questions. Read the TaxGPT Privacy Notice.
